News Literacy
News literacy refers to the ability to evaluate the credibility, authenticity, and bias of a source to assess whether it meets the standard of publication to be used in articles or to inspire articles.
Credibility
To assess the credibility of a source, I employ the CRAAP (Currency; Relevance; Authority; Accuracy; Purpose) and RAVEN (Reputation; Ability to see; Vested Interest; Expertise; Neutrality) with every source I consider. I also ensure that I include highly credible and peer-reviewed sources such as journal articles and statistics from government organizations.

Bias
Many sources contain their own bias, whether conscious or unconscious, which often obscures the facts. It's important to present the facts as they are in order to allow readers to form their own opinions based on them, so I work to find unbiased sources and avoid bias in my own writing by choosing not to use many adjectives.
